Since Ven Ajahn Chah - remembrance day

...Where is this "way to let go"? In Buddhism we say "Don't cling to anything." We never stop hearing about this "don't cling to anything!" This means to hold, but not to cling. Like this flashlight. We think, "What is this?" So we pick it up, "Oh, it's a flashlight," then we put it down again. We hold things in this way. If we didn't hold anything at all, what could we do? We couldn't walk meditation or do anything, so we must hold things first. It's wanting, yes, that's true, but later on it leads to parami (virtue or perfection). Like wanting to come here, for instance... Venerable Jagaro [22] came to Wat Pah Pong. He had to want to come first. If he hadn't felt that he wanted to come he wouldn't have come. For anybody it's the same, they come here because of wanting. But when wanting arises don't cling to it! So you come, and then you go back... What is this? We pick it up, look at it and see, "Oh, it's a flashlight," then we put it down. This is called holding but not clinging, we let go. We know and then we let go. To put it simply we say just this, "Know, then let go." Keep looking and letting go. "This, they say is good; this, they say is not good"... know, and then let go. Good and bad, we know it all, but we let it go. We don't foolishly cling to things, but we "hold" them with wisdom. Practicing in this "posture" can be constant. You must be constant like this. Make the mind know in this way, let wisdom arise. When the mind has wisdom, what else is there to look for?...

An invitation for reflections

In times when people at large, or when one is sacred and fears to take what is not given, not only giving personal invitations but also cherishing being given are total normal.

In times when people at large, or when one has no fear of taking what is not given, thinking having right, a personal invitation seems for them either like got caught or insulted or useless and of course such as giving invitation is also hardly avoided.

Certainly the same counts for asking desired.

How ever, at the "end" will be a casher anyway or just some joyful giving you leave.

So does it...

Mindfulness, alertness, and ardency get their guidance from what the Buddha called yoniso manasikāra, appropriate attention. Notice: That’s appropriate attention, not bare attention. No act of attention is ever bare. The Buddha discovered that the way you attend to sensory contact is determined by your views about what’s important: the questions you bring to each experience, the problems you want to solve. If there were no problems in life, you could open yourself up choicelessly to whatever came along. But the fact is there is a big problem smack dab in the middle of everything you do: the suffering that comes from misunderstanding what suffering is, how it’s caused, and how it can be ended. This is why the Buddha doesn’t tell you to view each moment with a beginner’s eyes. You’ve got to give priority to the problem of suffering, and keep an informed understanding of the problem and its correct solution always in mind.

Otherwise inappropriate attention will get in the way, focusing on questions like “Who am I?” “Do I have a self?”—questions that deal in terms of being and identity. Those questions, the Buddha said, lead you into a thicket of views and leave you stuck on the thorns (MN 2). The questions that lead to freedom focus on comprehending suffering, letting go of the cause of suffering, and developing the path to the end of suffering. Your desire for answers to these questions is what makes you alert to your actions—your thoughts, words, and deeds—and ardent to perform them skillfully.

Quote from: Ajahn Lee

To adhere to the religion rationally means not to follow one’s own prejudices or those of one’s teachers or companions, but to follow the principles of informed knowledge; holding to the Dhamma-Vinaya as one’s standard, like a law affixed with the king’s seal, enforceable throughout the land, making exceptions for no one. Whoever then transgresses the law can’t be regarded as a good citizen. So it is with those who practice the religion: If we want to know if a practice is good or bad, right or wrong, worthy of respect or not, we should check it against the standards established by the Buddha, which are eight in number: Any behavior that –

1. leads to passion,

2. leads to the compounding of suffering,

3. leads to the accumulation of defilement,

4. leads to overweening ambition,

5. leads to discontentment with what one has – i.e., having this, one wants that (greed that goes beyond moderation),

6. leads to socializing (of the wrong sort),

7. leads to laziness,

8. leads to being burdensome to others:

None of these eight forms of behavior qualify as the Dhamma or Vinaya of Buddhism. Once we know clearly that these forms of behavior are not what the Buddha intended, we should abandon them completely.

When children hear of heroic deeds they could do, they easy gain inspiration.

After having done a little work for some minutes, following it, seeing that a lot of sacrifices are actually required to do real great things, they get disenchanted, but still stay greedy after gain.
Since their pride would not allow to say "help, my harm are not strong now", they tend to use accuse the giver of a way to liberation, so to have reason for breaking up with a promise.

That is why stubborn children tend to be often of lack of respect toward their patents. They would accuse the gods and the whole world of being guilty that he would not be able to really sacrifice and let go, foster anger toward those with real compassion with them.

So is it, that a person with wrong view is always capable to kill not only his parents but also holly men.

Sometimes they start to give into animal-rights projects... or woman rights, or nuns-rights, or children-rights, or what ever gives way to express their anger while no need to sacrifice much but gain in giving their talents into lower.

Neither having fulfilled their own duties, nor sacrificed toward of what is worthy to give ones best fruits, their merits exhausted, they find themselves in much pain.

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammā-sambuddhassa

"Monks, these two are fools. Which two? The one who takes up a burden that hasn't fallen to him, and the one who doesn't take up a burden that has. These two are fools."

And what has been fallen to one, what needs to bee overcome and penetraded?

Form, ones clinging on ones not lasting inwardly and outwardly body, and aversion toward that regarded as other ones.
Feeling, ones desire after plesant feeling, aversion toward painful and ignorance toward neither pleasant nor painful.
Fabication, onse desire after building on what does not lead to last.
Perception (remembering), desire after what is not present.
Consciousness, ones desire on the eye base, ear base... intelect.

Once one task is done, by working steedy against the hindrances with a noble aim, once gained freedom of what has fallen to one, one is capable to really give, unbound with no desire for any beautification of oneself, desire to maintain and resist.

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammā-sambuddhassa

One whose heart is overwhelmed by unrestrained covetousness will do what he should not do and neglect what he ought to do. And through that, his good name and his happiness will come to ruin.

One whose heart is overwhelmed by ill-will... by sloth and torpor... by restlessness and remorse... by sceptical doubt will do what he should not do and neglect what he ought to do. And through that, his good name and his happiness will come to ruin.

But if a noble disciple has seen these five as defilements of the mind, he will give them up. And doing so, he is regarded as one of great wisdom, of abundant wisdom, clear-visioned, well endowed with wisdom. This is called "endowment with wisdom."

— AN 4:61

— AN 4:61

Da reifen Dinge, kommen in Kontakt,
Wahrlich: unweise betrachtet,
Nahrung gegeben, bleiben diese,
Setzen sich fort.

Das ist die Grundlage für Entstehen.

Geschichtes nähren,
Ungeschicktes verschmähen,
Nicht zum Eigen gemacht,
Nicht angefaßt.

An dem was Zuflucht haltend.

Von Unrat säuben den Geist,
Geduldig, nicht rückblickend,
Ablegen Stück für Stück,

Auf diese Weise,
Man vom Wiederholen,
Von Werden, Altern,
Krankheit und Tod,

Gelöst.
Vom Verlangen befreit.

Was zieht?

The Greatest Waste

"Time that has passed and gone without us having done anything useful or beneficial for ourselves, in a life in which we have been born in this world and encountered these teachings of the Buddha, leaves us with a life that is an incredible waste...

Time, even a single minute, that passes us by in that way – even huge piles of money can't buy it back. Thus, of things that are a waste in this world, what waste can compare to letting our days and our time pass us by without any benefit, even if only a minute?"
