Giving, the base practice, as well virtue in regard of it, Sila, duties, aren't either taught nor practiced under "modern" followers of the Buddhas teachings. Being the base, of course all other doesn't work.

Upasaka Mike generosly shared some of his reflections on Giving on his page http://buddhadust.net/dhammatalk/the_pali_line/course/gradualdana.htm on a place void of basics. How ever, my person thinks that it may not present the issues in clear way and differences are not really seen yet.

There are also ideas of "giving your self first" which might need also further explainings if wishing to make it an importand matter.

May one feel invited to investigate the topic, especially Nyom Mike, as contributor of teachings.
