Setup & Management

How Do I Install A New Module?

Top install a new module, you must first have your module selected and saved to hard drive or memory space. Then simply go to: "Admin > TinyPortal > Modules > Uploaded Modules". Here you will see a list of already uploaded modules, and at the bottom an option to "browse" your hard drive or memory space to select the module you have, then click "save" to upload the module.

After uploading the module, it is not yet installed and working.

Next you must go to: "Admin > TinyPortal > Modules > Uploaded Modules" and click on "Install This Module?".  After doing so, the module is still not ready for use. There is one more step to complete to get the module activated and working.

Finally go to: "Admin > TinyPortal > Module" and toggle the module you loaded as to "On". Now you are ready to use the new features that the module as added.

How Do I Turn Off, Uninstall, Or Remove A Module?

Turning Off, Uninstalling and Removing a module are entirely different things. If you intend to remove a module, it is recommended that you do so in the following order: "turn off", "uninstall", then "remove".

Turning a module off will simply remove it's features from use. However it will not remove it's installed code to your files or it's package from your site. This is a tool that is excellent for maintenance or updating the module. To turn a module off, go to: "Admin > Tinyportal > Modules > SELECT THE MODULE YOU WISH TO TURN OFF".

Uninstalling a module will remove any of the module features and code from your site's file. However, it's package will remain in case you decide to install again. To uninstall a module off, go to: "Admin > Tinyportal > Modules > SELECT THE MODULE YOU WISH TO UNINSTALL".

Removing a module will remove it's package from your site. It will no longer be available for reinstall, unless you re-upload your module package. To remove a module off, go to: "Admin > Tinyportal > Modules > SELECT THE MODULE YOU WISH TO REMOVE".

What Are The Module Settings?

Currently, there is only one module setting.

"Remove module settings when un-installing modules?"
  • Yes
  • No

This basically does what it says, it removes any previous settings you may have had with the module when you decide to uninstall/remove the module. This is an excellent tool for troubleshoot, if you are having problems with a installed module.

Sometimes a module may have a bug in which a certain setting causes it to crash the site or features of that module. With this setting, you will not have to enter the Database and remove it manually to restore your site.
