Venerable Theras, Ven. members of the Sangha,
Venerable Ariyadhammika ,
my person guesses that there are broadly two kinds of Monks, or types of formal homeless under the Gems known: Bhikkhu and Sāmaṇera
If one investigates, for example the Mahavagga, one comes accross (at least in Pali) of three to four kinds.
It seems to beginn with the Pabbajita and the full accepted Bhikkhu as main "classification". Then there appears the Sāmaṇera, seeming to be a classification of a Pabbajita not fulfilling the age criteria for full ordination and the last, one under observance whether bringing the attributes of inclination toward the Gems, or not, for full ordination (former member of other sects)
While the are less rules in regard of Sāmaṇera, as well as the former member of other sects, the Pabbajita lacks even more.
My person thinks that the classification and grouping is something differently done in different Sanghas and less clear regulations are found outside the full ordination, incl. how a full ordained might be in charge or obligation toward other homeless under the Gems.
My person would like to ask Ven. Ariyadhammika about not only how it might be traditional regarded in the different Nikayas but also what Bhantes own investigations in this regards are, and askes with it that Bhante may share his merits, out of compassion here.
