This teaching from the seven kinds of wifes, at the beginning, is actually a matter in every relation, male, student... teacher. The last one, even fools would say "how low..." is actually not only the King in an relation, soon will gain any freedom, but also one who can help ones defiled teacher, chef, partner... to one time possible see his dark places.
...but when a wife (person) looks after her husband’s (elders, his instructor, teacher, Uppajja...) interest with tender care and devotion like a mother over her child, this kind of wife is a motherly (fatherly) one;
again a wife who by nature is obedient and shy like a sister to a brothers belongs to a sisterly type;
and a wife who shares in like manner the happiness of misfortune of her husband is at once a friendly one;
finally a wife who lives in tolerance of the whims and dislikes of her husband and serves him faithfully throughout, is a servantly type.
Which kind "partner" of and "elder", one who was first, one one depends on... does one like to be?
There are certain thing my person does not agree here, especially the title, but in it's heart, aside of the notion given that one should be inhonest, or even steal, Ven. Thanissaros teaching here transports a good message, actually the Khmer way, khema way, to "solve" problems without "patiseit", to carefully help "stubborn" fallen leaders, fathers, mothers, elder...
Think Like a Thief . Talents "modern" people mostly never learned and to often fall for thought of being independent and having rights. Not every leader one depends on is already a Noble One or even an Arahat but possible on the way or could be redirected indirect.
