If thinking that total blocking is really needed, Nyom Moritz sure good to make it not permanent but with release from temporary ban, simply a capacity issue (out of ones limits) and not a matter of aversion and generalized selective actions. As Nyom remembered, there are also different highway-robber. Even if careful in not harming a robber still is a robber and one harming might be actually not. Just forgot the place of the wonderful Sutta.

Robots which have been blocked for now, because they have caused server breakdown through extreme traffic spikes, with resulting 502 and 504 errors, in the past:

bingbot (Microsoft Search Engine)
msnbot (Microsoft Search Engine)
SemrushBot (some marketing company trying to sell search engine optimization services)
AhrefsBot (similar like above)
DotBot (similar like above)
AspiegelBot (Huawei Search Engine)

Some of the Venerables, you all here might have observed error messages 502, 504... bad gateway, ...

First of all, may this circumstances be pardoned, and may patient with good and for all harmless solution as much as possible be maintain by all of you.

This happens when a search-engine, in actually not given way, by means of robots, tries to index a large amout of content, forcing many pages to be loaded.

Nyom Moritz has manuel, if aware, blocked such robot senders, thinking currently about a automatism for it.

Just now, again, the thought had been arosen: "Why not simple taking the whole page off from public and make it a "spy" and "rober"free, a trade free zone by giving "only" registeted members access. Of course, maybe similar as the search engine-settings in the forum software, it would be possible to allow, out of what ever reason, defined search-engines to index.

Of course less ideas about the technic in detail, it would be good to have a very informative startpage, language by browsersettings of cookies, where one could login, register... sure good if there would be alternative ways, password, telefon no., of possible with other accounts.

Not sure of what all of you might think about it and how it technical could work.

From moral side and in regard that the resources are actually given toward the Sublime Sangha of the eight direction and their following, open for interested, of course, it's surely a proper step.

As for possible thoughts like "but 'we' wouldn't attract that many people, using google and co. and it might reduce the spread of good": neither would the Sangha put publicly higher then to prevent given nd heritage proper, to give best foundation for those with strong Upanissaya and faith first, nor would the Sangha be given to let gifts (resources) given in faith flow out, back into the world instead of toward unbond.

Like my person would/do prefer more no mobilized rideable way to the Ashram here, knowing a larg street and many signs pointing to it would just attract those not ready for Dhamma and within short "destroy" any remote and proper practice, plundered it's material things and nature as well, why not doing in similar way here.

Sure, there are also may who might feel most comfortable to be somehow a little away from merely unaware or inattentive usual ways in the world, not so to be traced and approached by common things and searcher.

Maybe, not at all at the end, but as valued starter, good to lend an ear and eye, Ven. Ariyadhammika , would possible have space and inspiration to share an account, doubts, approve, comments, ideas, out of compassion for many and that the generous caretaker would have most ease to prepare things well formost for the Sublime interest of the Sangha, the Sublime Gems, their path and heritage.

Please may nobody hesitate to give account and share on it, near or far.
