Venerable Bhikkhu Anon ,

as more near of possibility to put it into accessible format, my person took some view on the sources as well as Bhantes understanding of "taking what's not" given. Certain doubt has arosen, since most secondary material comes, possible without knowing by the original "thieves" from the "Robin hood camps".

My person is not sure whether it can be repared, possible forfeit and confessed, if the impression of improper ways may turn out right.

Maybe Bhante can clarify the issue, so that improper ways might end right here and by this way merits.

It's therefore that rules on how to transmit Vinaya are even more refined, requiring not only pure letters but also pure attained and a pure gathering, conductor.

Samana Johann,

Attached is the latest version of The Concise Buddhist Monastic Code (v. 4.2) for sangham.net. I’d greatly appreciate it if the older version could be taken down from the site and replaced with this new version (4.2).

The description can be the following:

The Concise Buddhist Monastic Code 1 (CBMC1) by Bhikkhu Anon is a concise guide to the Bhikkhu Pāṭimokkha based on The Buddhist Monastic Code 1 by Ṭhānissaro Bhikkhu. Designed as a study aid or reference for Theravāda Buddhist monks and lay readers interested in learning more about the Theravāda monastic rules, CBMC1 incorporates information from The Buddhist Monastic Code 2 as well as other English translations of the Bhikkhu Pāṭimokkha or the Sutta Vibhaṅga, including Suddhāso Bhikkhu’s Analysis of the Bhikkhu Pātimokkha: a translation of the Mahā-Vibhaṅga in the Vinaya-Piṭaka, I.B. Horner’s The Book of the Discipline, K.R. Norman’s The Pātimokkha, and Bhikkhu Ñāṇatusita’s A Translation and Analysis of the Pātimokkha.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

With gratitude,

BA

(old Version is moved to monastic intern section)

THE CONCISE BUDDHIST MONASTIC CODE1

Version 4.0, e-book edition (old, no more public)
Revision 4.1 see next post below

Quote from: Introduction from the book
This volume is a concise guide to the Bhik￾khu Pāṭimokkha based on the Buddhist Mo￾nastic Code 1 (bmc1) by Ṭhānissaro Bhikkhu.
I have tried to distill the content of bmc1 to provide the reader with the most essential information on each Pāṭimokkha rule in a format that is clear and easy to understand.
Although the focus of this work is bmc1, which deals primar￾ily with the Sutta Vibhaṅga (vibh), I incorporate material from Buddhist Monastic Code 2 (bmc2), which deals primarily with the Khandhakas (kdks). This is most evident in Appendices 1 & 5, where the discussions of edibles and penance & probation are supplemented significantly with material from bmc2. In addition to using bmc1 and bmc2 as the basis of this work, I incorporate information from other English translations of the Bhikkhu Pāṭimokkha or the vibh. These include Suddhāso Bhikkhu’s Analysis of the Bhikkhu Pātimokkha: a translation of the Mahā-Vibhaṅga in the Vinaya-Piṭaka (abp), I.B. Horner’s The Book of the Discipline (bd), K.R. Norman’s The Pātimokkha (pāt), and Bhikkhu Ñāṇatusita’s A Translation and Analysis of the Pātimokkha (tap).

...

Anumodanā to the following people for their contributions to this project: A.G. for encouraging me to write this book and for editing a previous version and responding to my questions; J.B. for his comments and support; K.B., J.L., N.L., M.B., M.L.V., A.S., and A.B.G. for their comments on a previous version as well; Ñ.B. and S.B. for responding to my questions; and K.B. for his work on the type.
