Vandami, Bhante

I just realized there was a lot of left-over garbage that I had not cleaned up after upgrading DokuWiki. Backup copies from tests etc., including a copy of the whole old DokuWiki. I'm sorry about that. After deleting these no more used test sites now only 60% of space on that server are occupied, 59GB free to use again. (The sangham.net DokuWiki with all its data uses 57GB currently, and I had left a copy there of the data before the upgrade.)
Another space eater is a new feature of the new DokuWiki version that now stores log files (of errors and warnings about possible problems). These logs from October until now have already grown to almost 10 GB. Certainly good to look at what is being logged there about possible problems and fix them, but I have deactivated logging for now, so nothing new is added at the moment. I will try to look through soon what has been logged there and delete the old logs. Seemingly mostly just harmless warnings about code that would not work anymore with future PHP versions, with only few real errors in between.
Summary of main web server:
Total space | 150 GB (partially used for operating system etc.) |
sangham.net (DokuWiki) | ~ 57 GB |
forum.sangham.net | ~ 7 GB (incl. database) |
zugangzureinsicht.org
| ~ 0.7 GB
|
forum2.sangham.net - an old try to upgrade the forum into something more mobile-friendly | ~ 6 GB (incl. database) |
ocr.sangham.net, an old try to build an OCR interface via upload of image files (so far only uploading image files, no OCR performed) | ~ 4 GB (images of 17 scanned Khmer books stored here)
|
Operating system and software | ~ 12 GB |
Free space | ~ 59 GB |
Meanwhile Atma tries to remove the content of "storage" folder, (mostly scans of books) and save it on the lap top ( about 7,7 GB) but not sure if it will effect the area of "sangham.net" or has own space restriction.
Both share the same space, together with all the websites except mail.sangham.net.
The e-mail server incl. all the DeltaChat messages is separate, having 50GB allocated for storing all the mail. 80% of that space is currently used. Most space seems to be used for DeltaChat. If auto-delete would be active for all recipients and all of them actually used DeltaChat, this would probably be a good amount less. But for those people who never open DeltaChat the auto-delete will of course also not happen in such cases.
I just deleted all my DeltaChat messages older than 10 months, reducing from 1.3GB to 300 MB, and will also ask Upasika
Sophorn whose mail box has grown quite heavy as well after long not looking into, just like me.
A centralized chat storage for group chats, bound to the sangham mail server (one shared mail box for each group), would surely be great for saving space.
* resize images (maybe videos as well). Atma is not sure whether he could manage it via laptop, but via tablet (android), it should be possible to download, resize, upload again.
I could easily do this on the server if knowing what to resize and to what size. But looking for example at user/johann/gallery, which is a large part (11 GB, almost 20%) of all the data on DokuWiki, the images and especially videos seem to be already all quite economically sized.
The next biggest "offenders"

are Upasika Villa (4 GB) and I (500 MB), where there is more room for reducing size. I will try to look at it closer soon.
