2nd oldest Monarchy - Kingdom of Kampuchea: 2000. anniversary, 7. Sangayana

Interesting. After Japans Monarchy, the Kingdom of Kambuchea (ព្រះរាជាណាចក្រកម្ពុជា Kambuja), outlet of the norther Magadha existing land of Kambuja (Kamma pūjā, by own sacrifieces obtained, Sage Kambu Swayambhuva ), mentioned in the Tipitaka, and in the area of the "mystic" Sovannabhumi", land of gold, the antic empire "Nokor Phnom", Empire of mountain (the half-island area of South east Asia), is the Kingdom of Kambuchea the 2. olders monarchy existing in the world, founded 68 AD.

The founder was a woman, Queen Soma (សោមា or ព្រះនាងលីវ យី, Sublime lady Līva Yī, or Daughter of the Nāgas, នាងនាគ).

The Sage tells about the unification of Kambja (North of India), the still existing Kambo clan, with Sovannabhumi (SEAsian Montain Empire), the Khmer Queen.

An evidence, found for the mystic "Sovannabhumi", isn't that old. A stone plate was found here in Kampong Speu 2 years ago. Was Cambodia home to Asia’s ancient ‘Land of Gold’?

My person thought to mention the "mount meru" of the "buddhist golden land", of which is Phnom Oral, the dwelling of the last mighty Devas.

There is a total public unknown large cave and area, called "Top Monastery", (Vatta Bokor) near the top of the mountain, surely not discovered by archeologist, where many antique relics are found and visible. Just some known of it. Ever again, so the elder Villager, there have been thieves trying to remove things. Most died on their undertaking.

It would be surely good if those in charge would take more care of the place, since my person would not wonder if most oldest buddist evidences, aside of even older marks and also settlement in the valley, would be found. Much now endangered by uncontrolled clearing of land with heavy machines.

Nothwest, a "shining mountain", not clear for now, of it's significantly. South east, a small mountain range, lokking like a jump toward Udong, seam to be an anicent Brahsad(dha), Hindu sacrifices place, where on the foot a chinese mining firm started to dig away the mountain.
Wat Bokor could be more south east as the marked point.

Antik means, of an old settlement, stragegic central and all around protected, of daily life, are often found by villagers, but for the most play stuff for children.

And why did it last so long, and would even continue further, if hold on it, the old aging and decaying last dhammic domain?

A Nation's welfare

At that time the Venerable Ananda [4] was standing behind the Blessed One, fanning him, and the Blessed One addressed the Venerable Ananda thus: "What have you heard, Ananda: do the Vajjis have frequent gatherings, and are their meetings well attended?"

"I have heard, Lord, that this is so."

"So long, Ananda, as this is the case, the growth of the Vajjis is to be expected, not their decline.

"What have you heard, Ananda: do the Vajjis assemble and disperse peacefully and attend to their affairs in concord?"

"I have heard, Lord, that they do."

"So long, Ananda, as this is the case, the growth of the Vajjis is to be expected, not their decline.

"What have you heard, Ananda: do the Vajjis neither enact new decrees nor abolish existing ones, but proceed in accordance with their ancient constitutions?"

"I have heard, Lord, that they do."

"So long, Ananda, as this is the case, the growth of the Vajjis is to be expected, not their decline.

"What have you heard, Ananda: do the Vajjis show respect, honor, esteem, and veneration towards their elders and think it worthwhile to listen to them?"

"I have heard, Lord, that they do."

"What have you heard, Ananda: do the Vajjis refrain from abducting women and maidens of good families and from detaining them?"

"I have heard, Lord, that they refrain from doing so."

"What have you heard, Ananda: do the Vajjis show respect, honor, esteem, and veneration towards their shrines, both those within the city and those outside it, and do not deprive them of the due offerings as given and made to them formerly?"

"I have heard, Lord, that they do venerate their shrines, and that they do not deprive them of their offerings."

"So long, Ananda, as this is the case, the growth of the Vajjis is to be expected, not their decline.

"What have you heard, Ananda: do the Vajjis duly protect and guard the arahats, so that those who have not come to the realm yet might do so, and those who have already come might live there in peace?"

"I have heard, Lord, that they do."

"So long, Ananda, as this is the case, the growth of the Vajjis is to be expected, not their decline."

5. And the Blessed One addressed the brahman Vassakara in these words: "Once, brahman, I dwelt at Vesali, at the Sarandada shrine, and there it was that I taught the Vajjis these seven conditions leading to (a nation's) welfare. [5] So long, brahman, as these endure among the Vajjis, and the Vajjis are known for it, their growth is to be expected, not their decline."

The Brahmin n Kaundinya I (Koṇḍañña កោណ្ឌញ្ញ, known as Brah Thong, who was a buddhist ascetic, according Khmer history), who married the Khmer Queen Soma, as far as my person can see, was an ancestor of the Kambos, a Brahman horse riding tribe, north of Magadha, at Buddhas times, today in the Area of Afganistan/Pakistan: Kambojas , who moved slowly toward Sovanna Bhumi and eventually met Nokor Phnom "The Mountain Empire). Another later settlement, after founding "New Kamboj", the later Kingdom of Kampuchea" 2088 year before, was possible Kamboja Pala dynasty , suggesting that the empire reached till near India in the 11 century, the century of most buildings in the Central area of the Khmer Empire.

Kamboj is often mentioned in the Tipitaka, and the Buddha often praised the land "where a beggar can become the King, and the King a beggar".

Althought Kampuchea is often direct translated as Land of gold (Sovanna Bhumi), we find the meaning reasonable in the Tipitaka: from kamma + pūjā (sacrifices), meaning "(obtained) by own sacrifices, own labor", and not by birth, or Creater Gods.

Khmer are the native people of the are of SEAsia, called Khmer (Khemera, khema) because of their peaceful kind, ways and living, by the new arrivers (on may try to read the Chinese travel report, about the living and trade of the antic Khmer people, which is very in detail, but not public avaliable translated into english. A Khmer translation is said to exist.). A very humble and modest small Kingdoms folk, living in tune with nature and very simple.

One of the oldest Buddha image had been found near the oldest known Khmer settlements in Takeo, in Kampuchea Krom, today south Vietnam, which is dated 2000 yeas + old. There are many small evidences that Theravada long coexisted next Hinduism (2000 years+) till about 1500 year ago, where it became the dominate religion. And althought less studies and efforts had been made, sure a political and mentality matter, it's more then possible that Buddha-Dhamma has a more then 2000 years unbroken lineage in the land of the Khema, which is actually the oldest in the world, only disturbed more seriously in the area of the Khmer Rouge and by western Communism idealogies.

A surely inspiring and somehow clear vision, where those seeing it's benefit, may take part.

In (2032) 2068 would be the 2000th anniversary of the Kingdom of Kampuchea. If the Great King and the Great Leader get touched, and would by the touch certain see the benefit, there would be (12) 46 years time, starting with New Year, to build, out of gratitude not a symbol of nationalism, but a present for the world, a proper sized Chedi for Sublime Buddhas relicts, on the top of Aural, a mountainara of the last God and Devas, proper to make an area for the Sangha, with it's paths and forest dwelling, and small monasteies on the foot around the mountain area, and in the valley, erecting a city proper to invite the Sangha of the Eight Directions to hold the possible last united Sanghayana.

For common visitors (but also a material supply for building), no need to build large disturbing and destructive streets, but simply a two section ropeway along the current path and for pilgrams a soft and harmonic path along the stream which reaches right to the top on the Noth-east side. Along this path next water, it would be good to build remote Kuties and also Sleeping halls for devoted traveler.

The most importand of the undertaking, so that it bears much fruits is the vision of the receiver of the gift which is not the nation, jati, but the Sublime Gems, doing all based on Silas, inviting and hire the most skillful and moralic technicans, and motivate, instead of hire companies mainly, the Khmer folk to directly take physical part and with all they are inspired.

It's to estimate that hundreds of Khmer people would take part on it's realization the next 12 years, doing a once a life sacrifice, and 1000 pilgrims a day beginning after completing the Chedi in first settlements of Sanghas from all over the in the Valley, also for preparation of the 7. Sanghayana.

As for the touch to be complete, my person leaves here also a little older suggestion and request: គុណ នឹង កតញ្ញូ Guete und Dankbarkeit (4 years ago) and Brief an die Könige der Khema .

May the lacks of talent in formal and pleasing speech and presentation be pardoned.

May all those touched and with dircet Upanissay share it further so that those in charge are reminded (no doubt that they would have any doubt, but suddenly take on it, it touched) and may the good Devas and God not only dwelling on SEAsias "mount Meru" assist that good may take it's course.

May the Vision, by the power of the Sublime Buddha, Sublime Dhamma, Sublime Sangha, in line of the Dhamma-Vinaya, for the benefit and happinessof all being, within the decaying time of the world-period, take is causes with the skillful strength of body, speech and mind, supported by all blessed who still have Upanissaya with the stream of goodness of the Buddhas and Arahats of the past, present and the future.

Having been given to rest a little atNyom Chanroth s house a long convoy of maybe 100 expensive cars drived up to Aural. Soldiers, rangers, high ranking police, the who is who of the province. The two largest cars nearly at the end then stopped at Nyoms house. One monk remembered my person and seen he guided others to make some alms giving. The huge v8 car behind was that of the province head monk of the Dhammayut order, who also left his car and approached. After friendly greatings they reported that faithful people are inspired to build a street up the mountain and a large Buddha image at the top.

My person informed then, that it wouldn't be proper to build a Buddha image since the Sublime Buddha didn't allowed monks to do such, and that a Chedi would be most proper. Also that a street would destroy not only the enviroment and a ropeway would do well.

Also reminded that it would just work out well if the Great King and the Great Leader would lead such undertaking, encouragement that it would then be of great merits for all Cambodians, they then seeked to drive on.

Having invited them to visit the Ashram after their journey, they then left their way.

May wise and virtuous lead undertakings of huge impact, either attracting Sublime begings or even cast them off, undertaken either after gain or after highest liberation.

Just back from alms, thought good to 'open up' south again, given rest at Upasaka Chanroth s house, a big car stopped in front, carry the Sangha-chief monk of the province, Dhammayut. The Venerable informed that he is just up to found an Ashram at the foot of the Mountains access-track, glad that he had been given 12ha land in the middle of the already total deforested nature resort (at least that much could be lasting as refuge). He asked whether my person would drive with him up. My person refused, of course, but told, that if he would be there longer, my person would follow by feet, after meal at the Ashram.

Eaten, my person went on, not really knowing where, but actually knowing. People along the road tried to convince that it would be to far and one could even get lost. How ever, after about 10km walk, my person met a motor cow, just carry 3 monks, droven another road up, short before the foot.

Arrived, about 20 monks and 30 lay people and worker had been busy to prepear a small hall made of iron in the forest and cleared the under wood, grass.

Taking seat next the Me Gun, my person thought it's time to 1. remind him on ways of the Ariya-Sangha, metta, Sila, and 2. that he actually would/could lead something far more behind his previous thought: prepearing for huge merits and even way for the maybe still possible last Sanghayana, which will either happen exact here in 12 years or no more in this Sasana period.

Being very busy with many worldly things, and sadly no Kalayanamitta next and around him, aside of a layman who stayed devoted a little more far away, it's not sure if he got the message, it's not sure whether he will use his merits for low or for good. Till this time he did neither meet Dukkha, nor did he proper listened to the Dhamma of the Arahats.

After about an hour encouragement, my person left back and arrived after maybe 30+km walk today back at the Ashram, the place of the Nagas protecting the West.

It's sure not easy to recognize things one meets right, but possible, yet always a very personal matter of right intention, direction, Chanda.

There are predictions, based on the conducts of the Sangha, whether the Sangha would last long, or not. Anyway, as often told, this is the last generation of a Sangha of Pabbajito, the last incl. Ariyas beyond the 1 and second person, those on the path of Samadhi, having entered the secound path and beyond.

Atma will share those predictions, conditions, mainly found in the Mahaparanibbana Sutta.

It's "funny" that the Venerable mentioned the Taliban case of this days (which isn't that plane bad as western media report it), just now, as the origin of the Kambojas is actually the area of  todays Afganistan (their empire later growed east till the "land of mountains" here). The Venerable isn't aware of that, as well not that he met a former ascetic from there, who one arrived in the land of wonder, giving it a last encouraging visit.

"The growth of the bhikkhus is to be expected, not their decline, bhikkhus, so long as they assemble frequently and in large numbers; meet and disperse peacefully and attend to the affairs of the Sangha in concord; so long as they appoint no new rules, and do not abolish the existing ones, but proceed in accordance with the code of training (Vinaya) laid down; so long as they show respect, honor, esteem, and veneration towards the elder bhikkhus, those of long standing, long gone forth, the fathers and leaders of the Sangha, and think it worthwhile to listen to them; so long as they do not come under the power of the craving that leads to fresh becoming; so long as they cherish the forest depths for their dwellings; so long as they establish themselves in mindfulness, so that virtuous brethren of the Order who have not come yet might do so, and those already come might live in peace; so long, bhikkhus, as these seven conditions leading to welfare endure among the bhikkhus and the bhikkhus are known for it, their growth is to be expected, not their decline.

7. "Seven further conditions leading to welfare I shall set forth, bhikkhus. Listen and pay heed to what I shall say."

"The growth of the bhikkhus is to be expected, not their decline, bhikkhus, so long as they do not delight in, are not pleased with, and are not fond of activities, talk, sleep, and company; so long as they do not harbor, do not come under the spell of evil desires; have no bad friends, associates, or companions; and so long as they do not stop halfway on account of some trifling achievement. So long, bhikkhus, as these seven conditions leading to welfare endure among the bhikkhus and the bhikkhus are known for it, their growth is to be expected, not their decline.

"The growth of the bhikkhus is to be expected, not their decline, bhikkhus, so long as they shall have faith, so long as they have moral shame and fear of misconduct, are proficient in learning, resolute, mindful, and wise. So long, bhikkhus, as these seven conditions leading to welfare endure among the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus are known for it, their growth is to be expected, not their decline.

Seven Factors of Enlightenment [7]
9. "Seven further conditions leading to welfare I shall set forth, bhikkhus. Listen and pay heed to what I shall say."

"So be it, Lord."

"The growth of the bhikkhus is to be expected, not their decline, bhikkhus, so long as they cultivate the seven factors of enlightenment, that is: mindfulness, investigation into phenomena, energy, bliss, tranquillity, concentration, and equanimity. So long, bhikkhus, as these seven conditions leading to welfare endure among the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus are known for it, their growth is to be expected, not their decline.

Seven Perceptions
10. "Seven further conditions leading to welfare I shall set forth, bhikkhus. Listen and pay heed to what I shall say."

"So be it, Lord."

"The growth of the bhikkhus is to be expected, not their decline, bhikkhus, so long as they cultivate the perception of impermanence, of egolessness, of (the body's) impurity, of (the body's) wretchedness, of relinquishment, of dispassion, and of cessation. So long, bhikkhus, as these seven conditions leading to welfare endure among the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus are known for it, their growth is to be expected, not their decline.

Six Conditions to be Remembered [8]
11. "Six further conditions leading to welfare I shall set forth, bhikkhus. Listen and pay heed to what I shall say."

"So be it, Lord."

"The growth of the bhikkhus is to be expected, not their decline, bhikkhus, so long as they attend on each other with loving-kindness in deed, word, and thought, both openly and in private; so long as in respect of what they receive as due offerings, even the contents of their alms bowls, they do not make use of them without sharing them with virtuous members of the community; so long as, in company with their brethren, they train themselves, openly and in private, in the rules of conduct, which are complete and perfect, spotless and pure, liberating, praised by the wise, uninfluenced (by mundane concerns), and favorable to concentration of mind; and in company with their brethren, preserve, openly and in private, the insight that is noble and liberating, and leads one who acts upon it to the utter destruction of suffering. So long, bhikkhus, as these six conditions leading to welfare endure among the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus are known for it, their growth is to be expected, not their decline.

This, monks, is the first future danger, unarisen at present, that will arise in the future. Be alert to it and, being alert, work to get rid of it.

Furthermore, in the course of the future there will be monks desirous of fine food. They, desirous of fine food, will neglect the practice of going for alms; will neglect isolated forest and wilderness dwellings; will move to towns, cities, and royal capitals, taking up residence there and searching out the tip-top tastes with the tip of the tongue. For the sake of food they will do many kinds of unseemly, inappropriate things.

This, monks, is the second future danger, unarisen at present, that will arise in the future. Be alert to it and, being alert, work to get rid of it.

Furthermore, in the course of the future there will be monks desirous of fine lodgings. They, desirous of fine lodgings, will neglect the practice of living in the wilds; will neglect isolated forest and wilderness dwellings; will move to towns, cities, and royal capitals, taking up residence there. For the sake of lodgings they will do many kinds of unseemly, inappropriate things.

This, monks, is the third future danger, unarisen at present, that will arise in the future. Be alert to it and, being alert, work to get rid of it.

Furthermore, in the course of the future there will be monks who will live in close association with nuns, female probationers, and female novices. As they interact with nuns, female probationers, and female novices, they can be expected either to lead the holy life dissatisfied or to fall into one of the grosser offenses, leaving the training, returning to a lower way of life.

This, monks, is the fourth future danger, unarisen at present, that will arise in the future. Be alert to it and, being alert, work to get rid of it.

Furthermore, in the course of the future there will be monks who will live in close association with monastery attendants and novices. As they interact with monastery attendants and novices, they can be expected to live intent on storing up all kinds of possessions and to stake out crops and fields. This is the fifth future danger...

This, monks, is the fifth future danger, unarisen at present, that will arise in the future. Be alert to it and, being alert, work to get rid of it.

"Yes, lord," the monks responded.

The Blessed One said: "And which seven are the conditions that lead to no decline?

[1] "As long as the monks meet often, meet a great deal, their growth can be expected, not their decline.

[2] "As long as the monks meet in harmony, adjourn from their meetings in harmony, and conduct Sangha business in harmony, their growth can be expected, not their decline.

[3] "As long as the monks neither decree what has been undecreed nor repeal what has been decreed, but practice undertaking the training rules as they have been decreed, their growth can be expected, not their decline.

[4] "As long as the monks honor, respect, venerate, and do homage to the elder monks — those with seniority who have long been ordained, the fathers of the Sangha, leaders of the Sangha — regarding them as worth listening to, their growth can be expected, not their decline.

[5] "As long as the monks do not submit to the power of any arisen craving that leads to further becoming, their growth can be expected, not their decline.

[6] "As long as the monks see their own benefit in wilderness dwellings, their growth can be expected, not their decline.

[7] "As long as the monks each keep firmly in mind: 'If there are any well-behaved fellow followers of the chaste life who have yet to come, may they come; and may the well-behaved fellow-followers of the chaste life who have come live in comfort,' their growth can be expected, not their decline.

"As long as the monks remain steadfast in these seven conditions, and as long as these seven conditions endure among the monks, the monks' growth can be expected, not their decline."
