Dhamma Dana (http://www.lowpressurefilms.com/dhammadana)

Documentary • 30 minutes

Filmed entirely in Myanmar, Dhamma Dana delves deep into the Golden Land’s monastic tradition and reveals how the Burmese Buddhists find inner freedom. The film presents the Dhamma with a serene rhythm; documenting a powerfully peaceful ancient tradition that few experience first hand.

Wandering Mind (http://www.lowpressurefilms.com/wanderingmind)
Documentary • 60 minutes

His motivation was clear—to find the cure to his dissatisfaction—but when Martland set out on his journey to India to live in a Buddhist monastery, camera in hand, he had no idea what he would discover as he struggled to understand his own mind. Using the camera as a tool to unravel the truth about the Self, Wandering Mind is an experiment with the mind and film, as we witness the step-by-step realizations of a novice meditation practitioner.

The film features teachings from numerous meditation masters, including one of the best known and most respected Zen masters in the world today, poet, and peace and human rights activist, Thich Nhat Hanh.

Post by: Dhammañāṇa on May 03, 2013, 05:19:48 AM
Ven. Webu Sayadaw: Anthology of a Noble One

Description

This video looks at the life of one of Burma's most renowned and respected monks, Webu Sayadaw, who was recognized as having reached nibbāna. Using interviews and archival footage, the video examines Webu's life, teachings, and influences on modern day meditation movements.

~63 minutes. Download size: 436MB.

Ven. Webu Sayadaw was one of the most highly respected monks of the last century in Burma. (Sayadaw is a title used for monks. It means "respected teacher monk.") He was notable in giving all importance to diligent practice rather than to scholastic achievement.

Ven. Webu Sayadaw was born in the village of Ingyinpin in upper Burma on 17 February 1896. He underwent the usual monk's training in the Pāli scriptures from the age of nine, when he became a novice, until he was twenty-seven. In 1923 (seven years after his ordination), he left the monastery and spent four years in solitude. He practiced (and later taught) the technique of  ānāpāna-sati (awareness of the in-breath and out-breath). He said that by working with this practice to a very deep level of concentration, one is able to develop vipassanā (insight) into the essential characteristics of all experience anicca (impermanence), anattā (egolessness), and dukkha (unsatisfactoriness). Ven. Webu Sayadaw was famous for his unflagging diligence in meditation and for spending most of his time in solitude. He was reputed to be an arahant (fully liberated one), and it is said that he never slept.

For the first fifty-seven years of his life, Ven. Webu Sayadaw stayed in upper Burma, dividing his time among three meditation centers in a small area. After his first trip to Rangoon, at the invitation of Sayagyi U Ba Khin, in 1953, he included the International Meditation Center of Sayagyi U Ba Khin in southern Burma in his travels, visiting there to teach and meditate from time to time. He also went on pilgrimage to India and Sri Lanka. Webu Sayadaw spent his final days at the meditation center in the village where he was born. He passed away on 26 June 1977, at the age of eighty-one.

The Piprahwa Jewels

“This relic deposit of the Lord Buddha is the share of this renowned Sakya brethren, his own sister’s children and his own son.”
Translation of the inscription on the Piprahwa reliquary

This website tells the story of how my ancestors became involved in one of the most significant archaeological and religious finds in Buddhist history - the discovery of the Piprahwa Stupa in India, the location of the Buddha's ashes and the beautiful jewels interred with them.
It also endeavours to address the conspiracy theories about the Piprahwa excavation using archaeological and documentary evidence, rational and scientific argument, and the academic opinion of several world leading experts in Indian history and languages.
On the 11th May this year the documentary Bones of the Buddha shown on the National Geographic Channel conclusively showed that the Piprahwa inscription is authentic and could never have been forged.

http://piprahwajewels.co.uk/

On 31st May, 1.45pm (UK Time) I appear on the Channel Four programme "Four Rooms" where I show the jewels to several of Britain's top dealers.
If you are interested in owning some of these historical jewels please contact the well respected London dealer of Asian antiquities and art - John Eskenazi

Was?

"(at)man" ist mir gerade aufgefallen. Unachtsam.

Also, achtung!

We are happy to share our latest (free) movie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FETinZnT9GA

The taste of the Dhamma

It's good enough to experience this taste only once…

It's enough to know its flavour one single time…

Yati, 14 year old, is accused to be a witch because she knows many things that's usually impossible to know. Otherwise, she prodided powerful potions which have unwishable effects. Phu Phu, who accuses Ko Saing to make her drink a potion, had herself strange behaviors before to get the potion. In order to clarify this affair full of intrigues, the teacher organise a judgment with the three teenagers. Therefore, the most important will be to know how to find an antidote, the only one which is efficient…

This movie is offered to all. We − which include PDO's school's children of Mandalay − would appreciate that it been LIKED and SHARED. One clic is so easy. ; )

Don't forget to activate the English subtitle, in Youtube.

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammā-sambuddhassa

Was denkt Ihr Bhikkhus?
