Giving up things, one's stand, one's house, is done for the purpose to hear the good Dhamma.
Hearing the good Dhamma is done for the pupose of getting vision, confidence.
Getting vision, confidence, is for the pupose to let go and collect.
Let go and collect, is done for the pupose to seeing and knowing for oneself.
Seeing and knowing for onself is done for release and deathlessness.
And each step has another refined happiness inbetween, at the beginning, in the middle, and highest Peace and Rest at the end.
