We are under siege.
The big publishing houses and websites bombard us with lectures, courses and practices that nobody asked their Master for (because they don't have any, only the internet), but that dubious Masters offer, all for a modest price... but that's what it's always about... money.
Hundreds of books and dozens of smiling people guide us on this beautiful road paved with dollars.
Mostly they are from the Jewish religion, but they settle in Buddhism and in a short time they are teaching and recommending each other.
Actually, good grandfather Jieshi Shan , nobody goes much after one who has gone forth. It's just a matter for those seeking to decorate and maintain a house, a stand. There is less to no change to escape Mara and his host, as long as not met those gone forth, the Tripple Gems.

It will be much more worse soon. Don't one miss out last chances for the holy life.

oh, very importand:

...former monks who returned to the lower life.
...long term and professional lay teacher.
...monks or lay teacher neither speaking of praise nor encourage toward the holly life and leaving world.
...engaged in social projects.
...focus on teaching children, woman and not monks and elders first.
...putting equanimity higher than right discernment.
...keeping and take care on pets.
...gardener.
...don't keep their promises.
...take rewards for teaching.
...suggest or ask for donations and accept and use money.
...drive vehicles.
...living room Arahats... who not even have the nuts to leave refuge of the world, yet think they have attained awakening on social networks next the refrigerator in socialistic countries.
...approving suicide, keeping it warm for them and their studens escape, when kamma is ripping.
...are present and active on "Buddist" medias.
...not a little related toward the Sangha.
...sharing what they had actually never been given, not attained.
...eat, dwell and consume together with their students.

As for teacher who make use of their disciples for their elevation, build upon their dependencies, Nyom Vilā gave an excellent sample via SM

...tell that one, having found good teacher, to seek out for other...
...tell that no strong faith is required to learn...
...tell that strong "love" toward one's teacher is wrong...
...tell that no strong bond in a disciple-teacher relation is required...
...tell that to be taught, teaching, is for free, free, does not bind...
...have no firm faith in the Gems, but relay on other teacher and what they call "common sense"...
...don't make their living independent form their disciples...
...use not given third part means and power to share...
...make use and take what's not given to them...
...are after agendas in the world...
...have no shame in wrong doing...
...are not able to abound useless views and stands...
...think in terms of rights...
...avoid to let one know all of their ways and habits...
...seek privacy...
...have no gratitude toward goodness, but just toward gains...
...like to appear equal or lower...
...offer, suggest, that they will do your work...
...encourage one to seek ways to do not fulfill one's duties...
...don't praise generosity, service for people of goodness, going forth...
...suggest one to be "free and independent" where one isn't, being "worthy" where one isn't...
...make one fear firm dependency toward the Gems, giving up common refuge...
...call out for ingratitude and revolt...
...instead of Sublime Dhamma, relay on science, trends, common views...
...don't give leave when asked for...
...don't eager encourage one to abstain from unwise...
...fear lose of disciple (and disadvantages by it) more then wrong ways of disciple...
...accept wrong for gains...
...encourage to think like thieves...

...because once one has traded into a relation pleasing for defilements, like the unshakable bond toward real goodness, it's hardly ever possible to change, even if wishing, one owes debts to what one desired to be feed with.

May one not buy into lure of Mara, and such "Krabat" are common, where Mara, together with allNivaranas, appears as liberator, as common sees the low as high and the higher as low, total bind toward the unbound.
