Out there, Nyom, are many legal things yet no basics found.

Just thought to make aware again, as years not talked about.

* Johann : usually at least asking whether welcome to use for the Sangha, Atma could not find even a contact but just donate buttons... And of course my persons motivation to give anything into the foresters area has grown very very low.

Btw. the main khmer font maker is good part of the Tipitaka and cultur into public creativity team... The fonts, originally found by NGOs are found under various license, as google own... commercial, non-commercial...

Relaying on google fonts, for example, easy goes against Datenschutzgesetz in some countries, aside of the "dangers" of "Urheberrechte". But that all is a sphere avoided if just using consciously given without string back, what's proper obtained.

Bhante, these fonts are included in the Windows or Android system you are using. It is not illegal to use what was legally obtained.

Of course if the default fonts pre-installed on this or that system in one's possession are not good, one can try to make one's own. There is software for it. Some which can be bought, and some which is out of the "GNU jungle" which you so despise. Both options can be used legally.

Yes, a sphere that binds and even open for lawsuits, the relay on forest's fruits, or other societies.

Many years ago, aside of solftware, Atma had always much joy to create fonts by old "Federhalter". But now really not proper, aside of going into the forests for means and learn "animal-arts" by spying around.

There is much software to make fonts. But I am not familiar with them and skilled in using them, and don't know which might be particularly good.
One example is the GNU licensed open-source software FontForge . I used it to make the font which just shows the zero-whitespace character in the version history, which only has a symbol defined for this one character, looking like "|". The browser then automatically uses the next fall-back font for all other characters which don't have a definition included in that font.

In general, on just about all modern operating systems, on phones and computers, since at least 5 years or so, Unicode fonts for all kinds of international alphabets are included by default, and generally used automatically in browsers if any other font is specified which does not include a certain symbol by itself.

Currently using some of the fonts shared by Nyom sungkhum once, via sbbic.org, generously.

Seeing that the former download has disappeared, even more concern if proper to use.

Atma thinks than most relay on "fall-back" fonts of browser currently, aside of some tests. It's to assume that the Sangha at large isn't given any font, especially Khmer.

Not sure whether difficult to make or what it takes, what ever inspiration might be helpful here.
