Proceeding on the path
« on: August 06, 2022, 10:59:49 PM »
I'm deepening my knowledge about the Bodhisattva path, and i struggle finding complete and trustable informations.
Could you please provide resources which goes into details about the path which has to be followed, or which is followed, by a Bodhisattva who is at the 8th Bhumi and above?

Thank you.

Good householder blazer ,

may my person asks him of what he thinks that it could be a good source, relayable, trustabe, leading on a path for the good and benefit for oneself and al others?

Nagarjuna, some Mahayana scriptures. Since i'm looking for a wide range of links between arguments, unofficial resources on those topics are welcome.

Does good householder blazer think that one who hasn't arrived would be able to tell the path? Don't he think that someone seeking for awakening is simply just another under the countless seekers? Not all roads lead to Rome, not to speak about tracing the path to awakening.

But as an Ox might not easy be lead without being burden-bond, why not letting him plug into here anyway... maybe getting exhausted and seeking ernest later on, to build up the base.

Dear Johann,
no online resource can be so complete to provide the solution in this case.
For the second question, yes he thinks so.
Hints given by the right person could be useful if well taken, so advice has been asked.
I'll check your link which i take as the answer to my request, and eventually write back if i cannot find the informations i need.
Thank you.

Let Atma ask further: Does a child actually know what it needs to success? Or would it not just seek for what desired? Good then. There are a lot of fields out there.

Since i've not found any satisfactory answer, and since i'm not looking for the judgement of anyone, or a mentor, let me ask: could you please answer my question as it has been written, or is it out of your reach to provide an answer which points out sources which are, in your opinion, informative?
Please don't indirectly manifest "evaluations" based on a stranger's question, as you don't know its current conditions.
Thank you

May good householder blazer then put much effort into finding out about the stranger and his condition clear first, and how it came about. That much evaluation is already very helpful. Knowing causes helps to get by deeds other effects.

Before my Awakening, when I was still an unawakened Bodhisatta, the thought occurred to me: 'Household life is confining, a dusty path. Life gone forth is the open air. It isn't easy, living in a home, to practice the holy life totally perfect, totally pure, a polished shell. What if I, having shaved off my hair & beard and putting on the ochre robe, were to go forth from the household life into homelessness?'

Dear Johann,
My question was very simple.
In this world it has become difficult to get answers, people tend to give unappropriate answers to questions they don't properly figure out due to their preliminary assumptions.
Are you free from these ones?

Desires for this and that never ends unless one desires for an escape from desires and starts to give at first place, draws from demanding toward right view, gratitude and feel obligated at first place, starts to serve and abound consume, good householder blazer .

And what's the reason, what's the condition, why there might lack of answers, lack of understanding, appear in one's world. Yet, what's the reason, what's the condition, that one would not lack of answers, would not run blind and uninformed around.

..."There is the case where a woman or man is obstinate & arrogant. He/she does not pay homage to those who deserve homage, rise up for those for whom one should rise up, give a seat to those to whom one should give a seat, make way for those for whom one should make way, worship those who should be worshipped, respect those who should be respected, revere those who should be revered, or honor those who should be honored. Through having adopted & carried out such actions, on the break-up of the body, after death, he/she reappears in the plane of deprivation... If instead he/she comes to the human state, then he/she is low-born wherever reborn. This is the way leading to a low birth: to be obstinate & arrogant, not to pay homage to those who deserve homage, nor rise up for... nor give a seat to... nor make way for... nor worship... nor respect... nor revere... nor honor those who should be honored.

"But then there is the case where a woman or man is not obstinate or arrogant; he/she pays homage to those who deserve homage, rises up... gives a seat... makes way... worships... respects... reveres... honors those who should be honored. This is the way leading to a high birth: not to obstinate or arrogant; to pay homage to those who deserve homage, to rise up... give a seat... make way... worship... respect... revere... honor those who should be honored.

"There is the case where a woman or man when visiting a brahman or contemplative, does not ask: 'What is skillful, venerable sir? What is unskillful? What is blameworthy? What is blameless? What should be cultivated? What should not be cultivated? What, having been done by me, will be for my long-term harm & suffering? Or what, having been done by me, will be for my long-term welfare & happiness?' Through having adopted & carried out such actions, on the break-up of the body, after death, he/she reappears in the plane of deprivation... This is the way leading to stupidity: when visiting a brahman or contemplative, not to ask: 'What is skillful?... Or what, having been done by me, will be for my long-term welfare & happiness?'

The main reason of proper association is the get guided from improper to proper attention, as there is no exit to be found in the sphere of wrong attention.

(The main ironical thing of those rejecting to get discipled by the Sublime Buddha, but instead think they can follow his Sublimity independent, is that they seek then even to be taught how they could progress...)

Once there had been friends searching for a prostitute who had stolen one of them's possession. Asked whether he knows her path, seen here, on meeting the Buddha, he answered them proper knowing their desires, proper understanding without assumptions: Why don't you try to find your self (the reasons for your conditions of your dwelling now) at first place, instead run after whats lost, of less benefit, anyhow?

You are out of the way, dear monk Johann.
As told, i'm not seeking for guidance, so it should be clear i'm not looking for this kind of advices and talk. I'll depart immediately from here. Your evaluation is of no use for me, for now i can rely on my own reasoning and insight. I guess how people can seek refuge in Buddhism today if it is the attitude of the teachers, an attitude which doesn't maximize empathy and understanding of others inclinations. You can provide an answer to this if you wish.
Anyway, thanks for your efforts, monk Johann.

P.S.
sorry i've missed something useful reading your messages, i've not read everything with proper attention.

Don't he forget, unless given consciously, he simply goes on taking what's not given, and it will be hard for him, to ever gain wealth by misconduct at the base. Good householder blazer is used and grown up, conducting with wrong view, thinks he has rights, and digs in deeper into the hole of transgressions.

And with what else than thieves would good householder ever come back, inclined to this kind? Aside of the wish to never return, it's a utopian one, for one who does not like to get the basics.
