Venerable Khim Sorn, chief of the secretariat of the Mohanikaya Monk Order and chief of Phnom Penh Municipal Monks, who was so pleased after hearing the news called on monks and Buddhists in the country to join hand with tycoon Kong to make it happen as early as possible.
“I don’t consider it as a waste of money because the statue will stand for many hundred years of generations to come and for the Buddhist followers in the world,” Ven Sorn said.
He added Buddhism is the state religion and Cambodia can have its biggest statue like other nations in the world.
“I am not saying Buddha statues will bring prosperity to a nation, but it will bring peace and happy in the minds of followers of Buddhism,” Ven Sorn added.
