Supported it's given to use for the Sangha of the eight directions, Nyom Moritz , would it be possible to modify and integrate it on sangham.net ?

General basic spirit, as actually a gift of generosity by a privat person, as far as seen, may be an indication that it could be bond-free for members of the Sangha and those deep into practice be used.

Sure no idea of technical details, but such as web-site integration next to ways to modify are supplied by Tekegram.

Maybe something similar and instead of the shout-box, a public and maybe other cannels, share possibility...

Just thoughts as having come to mind.

Shortly in trust downloaded the app to test and send an request of use to support (of which is sure better done by someone else for the Sangha), having had also quick talk with Nyom Moritz about general possible.

So let's see and maybe the login issue via telefon or telegram for Asian user and Web-dwellers can be made easier in tjis way as well.

Atma thought that next to share possibilities such as a Telegram-window could replace the shout/talk-box and a sangham-app based on telegram-app might be possible as well.

Yes, it sure is possible to integrate Telegram in many ways.
I think I would like to start tomorrow to try for a test and look how to do it and what exactly can be done.
The matter of where to ask, for being able to use it as a gift for the Sangha, I am not sure now where to do. I will try to find out.

*  And just today my colleagues decided to switch away from Telegram for our work communication, so the noise of work busyness will now go to a different app. Interesting coincidence.

Noise: good to have a seperate app. Not proper to have dhammic teachings talks next busy with business or not to know what else.

SMF has a modification to add share button (although it comes with whats app as well):

Maybe possible to modify to telegram only if possible. Atma would tes around a little and install this temporary.

Not sure if Nyom maybe can get possible needed support to build up a consistency and maintained sangham.net app, a communication platform given and proper to use for the Sangha.

It seems not possible with the "standard" Telegram widgets to integrate a complete Telegram channel with live chat directly into the Website, but only such things like embed single posts with a link to open the channel in Telegram etc..

But possibilities are not limited by that, as the Telegram API is open to use for writing one's own application with all possible functions of Telegram adjusted to one's needs. For example, here is the source code to the official Telegram web client which runs at web.telegram.org. One could rebuild the functionality of that or whatever one needs into one's own website. So to integrate an embeded Telegram channel/group with livechat as replacement for the shoutbox should be possible with that somehow, for example.

The Login widget seems interesting and could be great for mobile phone users to associate an account with Telegram instead of e-mail to log-in here, but would require much change to the database code here. So not totally quick and easy to implement but surely somehow possible.


I will try some experiments, but maybe not yet something quickly visible today.

It seems the replacement in the installation was not correct, and the icons were copied to the wrong directory. I changed it by hand so the Telegram button works now.
But it only includes a link to the topic, not to the specific post. I will try to fix that.

I see, Bhante already changed the "share" text message in the language files to "Share of merits from sangham.net - forum: ".


All in all: a very simple functionality which actually seems unnecessary to wrap inside a plugin.
Could also just leave it as a simple manual edit to Display.template.php without all the plugin stuff around, at least for a simple thing like this.

Generally, I don't like the SMF plugin system very much, and it seems normal that most plugins are somehow broken by default.

Yes, the link and share message order seems wrong way around after I changed it.

But the share function did not seem to work at all before for me.
I changed it to what seems to be the "official" correct format:

tg:msg_url?text={{text}}&url={{url}}

Seems to be the text is normally displayed after the URL. Of course one could just turn it around and use text as URL and URL as text.

Done now, which seems to work well.

Not yet working: cutting off the '#...' part for the anchor link.
