A while ago Upasaka and Upasika had send an email in regard of late Ayya Vimala and maybe someone here might be touched by it and could share infos:

Dear Friends,

A German nun, Ven. Ayya Vimala, has passed away in Kandy, Sri Lanka. She had no relatives in this country, and we do not know of any relatives or connections she had in Germany.

For the last few months, we worked intensively with her in the completion of a manuscript for a book, German Scholars in the Field of Pali Buddhism and Sanskrit Indology. This small volume includes brief biographies of scholars (chronologically) from Heinrich Roth to Michael Zimmerman.

We  wonder whether anyone in your community knew Ayya Vimala or knows any relative in Germany. Her name before ordination was Margarete Kurbjeweit. She was born in Koenigsberg.

We are attaching information she provided about herself in the manuscript. If anyone can shed some light on her connections in Germany, we would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you very much.

With metta,

Ken and Visakha Kawasaki
